New Specialised Dementia Care Unit

Dedicated Dementia Care for up to 36 Residents
In April 2010, the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society started work on a new annexe at Weston Acres. This new facility will enable the Society to provide a dedicated dementia care unit for up to 36 residents living with dementia. Completion is expected in spring 2011 for commissioning in early summer 2011.
The building will be a single-storey annexe, providing 12 nursing en-suite bedrooms and three, two-bedroomed apartments. There will also be two safe and secure internal courtyards, one with sensory landscaping, for residents to enjoy the outdoors in a calm and comfortable setting.
This new facility will allow the Society the flexibility to provide residents with a full range of accommodation and nursing care services all on one site, avoiding the need to transfer to other homes as their needs change.
